According to an official statement from Tibet Airlines, the crew noticed “abnormalities” during take-off and aborted the take-off. The plane then went off the runway.

“All 113 passengers and nine crew members were evacuated, some sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment,” the statement said, without specifying the number of casualties.

Photos released by Chinese media showed flames engulfing the plane’s wing as panicked passengers fled the scene.

The incident came after a China Eastern airliner flying from Kunming to Guangzhou crashed into a mountainside in March, killing all 132 people on board. It’s not clear what led to the deadliest plane crash in China in 30 years.
