Russia’s top lawmaker accused the US of having directly implicated military activities in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“Washington essentially coordinates and develops military operations, thereby directly participating in military actions against our country,” Russian Lower House (State Duma) Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on the Telegram Twitter page May 7.
According to Reuters, the United States and European countries that are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have moved heavy weapons to Kyiv to repel Russia’s military offensive campaign. However, Washington and its allies have repeatedly asserted that they will not send troops directly into the war to avoid becoming a party to the conflict.
US officials have revealed that the United States provided information that helped Ukraine repel Russian raids, but denied that that information contained precision targeting data.
So far, Moscow forces have taken control of parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, but have been unable to capture the capital, Kyiv.
State Duma Chairman Volodin is one of several Russian politicians enthusiastically supporting Moscow’s “special operation” to weaken Ukraine’s military capabilities and “root out” what Moscow “the fascist elements are manipulating in the government and army” of its southern calls neighbors . According to Volodin, foreign advisers have been working in Ukraine since Volodymyr Zelenskyy was elected President of Ukraine in 2019.
In contrast, Ukraine and the West condemn this as a pretext created by Russia to mobilize troops with its neighbor. Since the war broke out on February 24, thousands have been killed in Ukraine and more than 5 million have been forced to flee the country.
