The special status of the commander of the Russian paratroopers killed in Ukraine

Captain Adam Khamchoyev, 30, was the commander of a Russian paratrooper killed in Ukraine last weekend. This captain is the grandson of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

According to the Daily Mail, Captain Khamkhoyev was killed on the evening of May 20 and later buried in the southern Russian province of Ingushetia. First Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, 58, right-hand man of the Russian Defense Minister and uncle of Adam Khamkhoyev, attended his grandson’s funeral on May 22.

Captain Khamkhoev’s death marks the first time a relative of a senior Russian official has been killed in Ukraine during the country’s special operation.

Captain Chamkhoyev, a graduate of the elite Ryazan Airlift School, is the commander of a Russian air raid squadron and the son of his sister Yevkurov. After his death, the commander’s body was immediately returned to his homeland.

Mr. Yevkurov, a former paratrooper, received the title of Hero of Russia – the country’s highest award. He has not yet commented on his nephew’s death. Russia has not released any details about the location or circumstances of Chamkyoyev’s death.
